Orchestra Omaha has the honor of holding a Young Artists Competition during the fall/winter of each season. The competition is open to students in the following categories form Nebraska, western Iowa and southeast South Dakota.
- String players ages 9-13 compete in the Junior Division
- String players ages 14-18 compete in the Senior Division
- Wind, brass, percussion, piano and harp players ages 13-18 compete in the Orchestral Division
The winner in each division is awarded a solo opportunity on an Orchestra Omaha concert, along with a cash prize.
As a result of this change, the application deadline has been extended to March 5th, 2021. The competition is open to all string, wind, brass, percussion, piano and harp students who reside in Nebraska and Iowa, as well as portions of South Dakota. String players age 9-18 will compete in the Strings Division (ages 9-13 in Junior, and 14-18 in Senior); Wind, Brass, Percussion, Harp, and Piano players ages 13-18 will compete in the Orchestral Division. The winner of each division will be awarded a solo opportunity at an upcoming Orchestra Omaha concert, along with a cash prize.
