Meet the Music Director

Dr. Kenneth Meints

Dr. Kenneth Meints is serving in his fifteenth season as Music Director and Conductor of Orchestra Omaha, and this year is also stepping into the role of Executive Director. Prior to his appointment in 2006, Dr. Meints conducted both student and adult orchestras in Illinois, California and Nebraska.

His teaching experience spans the entire musical spectrum from preschool general music to university courses in trombone, theory, and performing ensembles. He currently serves as director of orchestras at Brownell-Talbot.

Ken completed his Doctor of Musical Arts in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and also holds a Master’s of Music degree in Trombone from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He previously maintained trombone studios at Biola University, Cerritos College and Hope International University. As a performer, Ken has served as Principal Trombonist with the Monterrey County, Torrance and Rio Hondo Symphony Orchestras in California, and as a casual musician with the Saint Louis, San Francisco, and Pacific Symphony Orchestras.
